Jason Smith

President, Engineering & Technical Services

Jason Smith is the President of VTM Group’s Engineering & Technical Services division. He leads the internal development and program management efforts in support of VTM's diverse group of clients. Additionally, Jason provides consulting services to many technical clients and currently serves as the Compliance Program Manager for the Compute Express Link (CXL) and the Certification Program Manager for RISC-V International. 

Jason joined VTM in 2007 as the Compliance Program Manager for Digital Content Protection, LLC, the licensing agency for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP). In this role, he authored the HDCP 2.0 Compliance Test Specification, validated test equipment, audited approved test labs and tested countless products at PlugFests and in the DCP Lab.  In 2014 Jason’s expertise in Compliance Testing and Test Lab Management was called upon to launch the Open Connectivity Foundation’s Certification Program.  Jason drove the Interop Program through Multi-Vendor Interop Test Events, wrote the OCF Certification Policy Document and served as interim chair of OCFs Certification Work Group. In addition to these long-term roles, Jason has provided consulting services to the Avnu Alliance, the Z-Wave Alliance, VESA, HDMI Forum and others.
 
Prior to joining VTM, Jason was a Developmental Engineer in the United States Air Force. His diverse background in encryption technologies, network security, communications, and leadership has greatly benefitted VTM and its clients.
 
Jason holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Portland, and a Master’s of Science in Computer Engineering from Colorado Technical University.
