To increase the resiliency of IoT devices from cyber-attacks, IoT manufacturers need to have a security-first approach and combine the latest updates and techniques, Sunil Cheruvu, Co-Chair of Trusted Computing Group’s (TCG) Internet of Things Work Group, said today.

Speaking at the IoT Device Security Conference, Cheruvu stressed the importance of preparing the best response to inevitable cyberattacks. With the growth in the frequency and complexity of attacks, it is essential that devices are safe and uncompromised. Security must be a priority for all, not just when a disaster happens.

Trusted Computing Group (TCG) has today announced a new work group that will define how TCG technologies can be implemented to address supply chain security challenges. Led by representatives from Microsoft, Intel, and Goldman Sachs, the work group will create guidance that defines, implements, and upholds security standards for the entire supply chain.

With the number of cyber-attacks attempting to compromise the supply chains of industries and governments rising, the Supply Chain Security work group will bring together industry experts from across the technology ecosystem.

In March of 2020, Ethernet Alliance members were eagerly anticipating OFC 2020 in San Diego, Calif. 17 member companies gathered together at Teledyne LeCroy to build out the year’s interoperability demo. Company allegiances and rivalries were set aside for the greater good as we worked to create a working display of all things Ethernet. Everything was coming together nicely and we were ready to go…right up until we suddenly weren’t.

The MIPI Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, today announced that development has been completed on A-PHY v1.1, the next version of the automotive serializer-deserializer (SerDes) physical-layer interface. Version 1.1 will double the maximum available downlink data rate from 16 Gigabits per second (Gbps) to 32 Gbps and include other enhancements to help automotive OEMs and their suppliers implement high-performance image sensors and displays in next-generation vehicles. The specification is undergoing member review, with official adoption expected within the next 90 days.

USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), the support organization for the advancement and adoption of USB technology, today announced new Certified USB Type-C® Cable power rating logos to clearly indicate the power capabilities of USB-C® cables to consumers. Certified USB Type-C Cables will now feature logos highlighting support for 60W or 240W of power as defined by the recently published USB Power Delivery (USB PD) 3.1 Specification.

The archive is intended to preserve for future generations major milestones in Ethernet’s history that may have been forgotten or remain unknown by collecting recorded interviews with key individuals engaged in the technology’s global emergence as the foundation of internet.

MFA, an international organization championing the global industry adoption of private networks, is gaining industry momentum with the recent certification of the Nokia Industrial MulteFire fieldrouter 700 and announcement of Uni5G Technology Blueprints. The Nokia MulteFire solution, which is available for deployment with Nokia Digital Automation Cloud, will enable MulteFire LTE-based private network adoption worldwide, unlocking access to unlicensed spectrum. With deployment available globally, it can be used by small and medium enterprises without access to licensed spectrum and it can bring additional capacity as a complementary layer to wireless networks and enable new nomadic use cases to advance Industry 4.0.

The MIPI Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, today announced details of its upcoming MIPI Developers Conference (DevCon) to be held 28-29 September 2021. The online forum will provide a variety of technical sessions and member demonstrations delivering education and training on MIPI specifications in application spaces such as mobile, the Internet of Things (IoT), automotive and 5G. Together, developers and engineers will learn about new specification implementations, industry advancements and trends in the MIPI ecosystem.
